Background

Joy for children- Uganda (JFCU) is a registered non-governmental, non-profit making Organization established by a group of local youth who were later joined by other members of the community to respond to issues facing children in Uganda. JFCU was established 2005 and attained NGO status in 2006, registration number S. 5914/6687 under the NGOs Act of 1989 of the Republic of Uganda.

The plight of orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda inspired the formation of his organization. Issues of poverty, health such as HIV/AIDS and malaria, malnutrition, neglect, abuse and exploitation, poor education and illiteracy, conflict in families, water, sanitation, and housing that have revenged our country were at the forefront in the formation of this organization.

We provide expert advice at the highest level – at the UN, the European Commission (EC): for example, we advise the EC's ad hoc group on deinstitutionalisation. We facilitate peer-to-peer support, bringing together practitioners on the ground with practitioners in the UK to help give children childhoods. We work with children so they have a voice and are involved in the deinstitutionalisation process. We raise awareness, in the UK, in Europe and across the globe, so that, one day, children won’t be locked away: so they can enjoy their childhood.

Mission:
“To support and advocate for the needs and rights of children who are affected by natural and human-made catastrophes in Uganda”.

Vision:
“A society free of children’s rights violation, where all the children have equal opportunity to maximize their full potential.”

Objectives:
