Under our current strategy we are focusing on preventing and responding to Violence against Children and Promotion of Right to Education. We also host and co-coordinate the Girls Not Brides Uganda a national alliance of more than 70 CSOs committed to end child marriage.

At the end of 2016, Joy for Children was appointed by the World Bank President to Global Task Force on Gender Based Violence.

Joy for Children has organized and facilitated events at the United Nations in New York and at the World Bank Spring and Annual meetings.

JFCU's 16 energetic passionate professionals work together as a team in our Kampala and Fort Portal to promote and protect the rights of children.

Purpose of the position: The Program Manager is primarily responsible for the development, supervision and effective management of the projects. The projects are implemented in various regions of the country. He/she will be responsible for effective implementation of the project in accordance with the project objectives, activities and targets, which includes developing and implementing detail implementation plan, monitoring and evaluation, preparing quality project narrative and financial reports, developing and managing partnerships, and managing and supervising the project teams.

About the project: The World Bank in partnership with Ministry of Gender Labor and Social Development is implementing Supporting Children's Opportunities through Protection and Empowerment (SCOPE) project in Communities of Kabarole and Kamwenge district that were affected by sexual abuses during the construction of Fort Portal-Kamwenge road. The project aims at enhancing health services and psycho social support for child survivors and those at risk of sexual violence and their guardians, supporting community based prevention of Violence against Children and Gender Based Violence and enhancing case management, legal counseling and community referrals for child survivors and those at risk of sexual violence in Kamwenge and Kabarole districts. The project will cover sub-counties and communities in closest geographical proximity to the Fort Portal-Kamwenge road, including Ruteete, Kiko Town Council, Busiriba Sub-County, South Division and Kamwenge town council.

Joy for Children – Uganda has been sub contracted to enhance case management, legal counseling and community level referrals in the selected communities of Kabarole and Kamwenge districts.

About the project: Joy for Children Uganda in partnership with Plan International Uganda are implementing a four and a half year Girls' Advocacy Alliance (GAA) Project which envisions a world where all girls and young women enjoy equal rights and opportunities, and they benefit equally from development outcomes. The project targets girls and young women affected by gender based violence and economic exclusion living in rural and urban slum communities.

Under GAA, Joy for Children Uganda is leading national level lobby and advocacy efforts on ending Child Marriage.
