About Us
Joy for Children Uganda is a child focused development and advocacy non governmental, non profit making organization dedicate to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

Activities Implemented in Kabarole Area
KIOS availed more funding for the strengthening of Community based response in preventing violence against children in Kabarole in December 2011. With the new project more 3 parishes were considered in addition to 8 parishes that we were working with in the first project.
The new parishes come from Mugusu sub county in Kabarole district these include; Kiraro, Kiboha and Nyabuswa parishes.
- Training of Counselors:
Six (6) counselors were trained from the three new parishes in four day residential training in Kabarole.
- Setting up & Supporting Child Support Groups (CSGs):
In each of the 11 parishes targeted by the project, a CSP of a minimum of 10 members have
been set up.
Eleven bicycles were also given out to the members of CSP to easy their transport and be
able to reach the children who need their support in the community.
- Supporting the Creation of Good Schools Program
We have continued providing support to schools in their efforts to creating “a
Good School”. Schools still under our support are five they include; Buhinga P.S,
Kyebambe Model P.S, Nyabukara P.S, Sts Peter and Paul, and Nyabukara Primary School.
Orientation of teachers in this endeavor was carried out at the beginning of first.
With the training we hope they will be able to support this initiative and be role
models in creating good school. Joint meetings with parents, teachers and the
community will begin next term that starts on May 22, 2011.
- Publication of Information Education and Communication (IEC) Materials
IEC were published and distributed these include posters, T-shirts, Booklets,
Pamphlets, handouts and leaflets with information on preventing violence against
children.
- Radio Programme
Radio spots have been running every day since January 2011, four times a day with message on preventing violence against children. The spot will run until August this year. Interactive radio program are scheduled to begin in the next half of the Project period.
- Support for Child Headed Households
We continue to provide psychosocial support scholastic materials, school fees, clothing, feeding and other basic needs to households headed by children. 19 children from five household are currently receiving our assistance.
